While it is easy to make blanket statements about what we all should be doing to ensure the well-being of the planet and our future, the truth of the matter is that these issues are heavily complex and very often there is no single answer to permanently solve them.

In any instance, the furthering of awareness and understanding beyond one's own borders of life remains an irrefutable first step toward creating positive changes.  

Because of the growth of my own awareness about these issues

through my college education, ethically I will not be able to work for any employer who does not value or practice some level of sustainability or environmental awareness in their operations.

In my personal life I will be making considerable changes as it has become impossible for me to live as if it were "business as usual" in terms of water, food, energy, transportation and shopping.

I will also be following in my parents' footsteps and be creating a garden of my own with the intent of eventually becoming greatly, if not completely, self-sufficient.
